An adventure with hints of fairy tale in which an unnamed protagonist runs away from an evil creature through a lush landscape. Accompanied by animals, our hero must find something similar to a safe place in a beautiful but strange environment. The film dispenses with dialogues in order to create a rich and satisfying world, filled with wonders and horrors in equal shares.

In order to heal a wound caused by a mad wild boar, young Ashitaka goes out to seek the Deer god, as he is the only one who can free him from the spell. Throughout his journey, he realizes how the forest creatures fight against men who are willing to destroy Nature.

A debut that made quite a splash in Annecy, taking home the Award for Best Feature Film. 1975, Cambodia. Chou’s life takes a turn when the reign of terror of the Khmer Rouge begins: she is deported along with her family to a labor camp, and separated from her three-year old son. From here on, Chou will have to learn how to survive and to toughen up in the face of brutality without ever losing hope of reunion.

Talent Disney at the JOSO School

At the JOSO School and exclusively for its students, we will have Yosimishi Tamura, an expert traditional animator who has worked in some of the last 20 years’ biggest productions, from Tarzan to Klaus.

At Arts Santa Mònica centre, we will meet Cent Alantar, an architect who also worked for some of Disney Animation Studios’ biggest productions, from Tarzan to special projects such as Destino, a collaboration between Dalí and Walt Disney.

Nicolas Weis is an independent concept artist and visual developer who has work for the big videogames and animation industries for more than 10 years. He worked for Imagi Animation Studies (2008), Dreamworks (2009-2013) and Paramount, in animated films like Astroboy, How to train your dragon, The Croods and the project Sonic Boom for Sega/Big red button.


CONFERENCES

The animation and animation assistance in a 2D traditional production, by Slaven Reese, Elio Lischetti and Marick Queven

Animated feature film production in Spain: Before and after Klaus

We will organize a meeting with four production director women in various traditional animated feature films in Spain: Deneb Sabater Ventura, Ana Olmo, Alba de Lara and Paula Blanqué Catalina. In this round table we will talk about how these last years have been, in terms of the fabrication method, of a film and the big changes they’ve done in the last production of The Spa Studios.
